A NEET-UG re-examination candidate in Ragannaguda, Adibatla, Hyderabad, was caught cheating using a mobile phone hidden inside the exam centre’s washroom. The student, from Achampet, concealed the phone near a washroom ventilator accessible from the compound wall before the exam began. Around 11 am, he placed the phone in a flush tank inside a zip-lock cover. Despite thorough security checks, the phone went undetected.

During the exam, the candidate complained of stomach pain and used the washroom. Noticing his prolonged absence, invigilators checked and found him using the hidden phone to search answers on Google Chrome. The police seized the device and found evidence of online cheating. The student confessed to malpractice and was taken into custody.

A case was registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. Investigations are ongoing.
