New Delhi:

Sources said the Delhi Police have not received a government instruction to drop cases related to the large paper leak protest. They stated that legal actions and a judicial decision would follow such an order. They stressed that journalist assault cases will not be retd.

The administration has guaranteed Jantar Mantar protesting students of no legal action. Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who terminated his hunger strike, received a similar promise.

The cases include the July 20 violence at Jantar Mantar during a march to Parliament to demand Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as education minister.

Police reported at least 20 incidences of violence and associated situations. Of them, 14 featured violence, one involved operating a drone without authorization, and the rest were journalist assault claims. Officials said journalists' cases will remain.

Sources indicated that when the government makes an order, the prosecution would write to the lieutenant governor to stop further activity.

After seeking consent, the police would notify the appropriate courts that they won't prosecute these cases, sources added.

They stated that the court will issue future orders.
