Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh police have seized 46 gelatin sticks weighing roughly five kg from a passenger’s bag at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station in Vijayawada. The passenger had inadvertently picked up the bag and approached police when he realized his own bag was missing, police said.
Vijayawada: In a case of mistaken bag, police in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday retrieved 46 gelatin sticks weighing roughly five kg from the bag of a passenger at Pandit Nehru Bus Station here, police said.
Police believe the material was being taken to a stone quarry, but stated this was simply a preliminary suspicion.
“Around 1 am after a baggage mix-up, the police recovered 46 gelatin sticks weighing nearly five kg from a passenger’s bag,” Vijayawada South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K Manasa told PTI.
The preliminary inquiry showed the passenger grabbed the wrong bag and did not know what was inside.
The passenger did not realize the bag was not his and was unaware or suspicious that it contained gelatin sticks or explosives. Manasa stated he did not open the bag and instead went to a police station and told the police that the bag was not his and his own luggage was missing.
According to her, it was after his complaint that the police found the gelatin sticks in the bag.
