Police in Hyderabad have arrested and detained trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy for sexually abusing a fellow trainee. After she left him and married another, police alleged he threatened, intimidated, and used bogus social media profiles.
Hyderabad: Trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy, who was arrested and remanded to judicial detention for sexual assault, threatened to reveal private talks after the victim broke up with him and married another person, police said Wednesday.
Krishna Reddy, detained Tuesday, appeared before Ranga Reddy District First Class Additional Judicial Magistrate at Rajendranagar.
He went to Chanchalguda Central Jail after a 14-day judicial remand.
Police said Krishna Reddy served as a Police Constable in Andhra Pradesh before becoming an IPS in 2025 after passing the UPSC. He has been training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad since December 2025.
The accused met the victim woman on Instagram in mid-2025 when she responded to his post on his pursuit of IPS membership.
A fellow IPS officer trainee is the casualty.
After exchanging contact details and building a rapport through conversations about his humble background, the accused and victim had entered into a relationship,” stated Hyderabad City Police DCP (Rajendranagar zone) S. Srinivas.
During his training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) and SVPNPA, police reported many fights, emotional manipulation, possessiveness, and explosive behavior.
The accused threatened suicide, displayed weapons, insulted the victim, demanded multiple relationships, and harassed her by throwing and damaging her laptop, creating fake social media accounts after being blocked, threatening to release private chats, and contacting her family and colleagues without her consent.
This intolerable behavior caused the victim to leave the accused and marry someone else. Once blocked, the accused started creating fake social media accounts, threatening to release private chats, contacting her family and colleagues without her consent, and committing various offenses stated by the victim and other witnesses, police said.
Attapur Police Station initiated a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 64(1) read with 63(b)(iii), 109, 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 127(2), 115(2), 351(2) and IT Act Sections 66E, 67A when the victim complained.
The accused officer trainee committed the listed offenses, according to the inquiry.
His arrest occurred on July 28 at Aramghar X Roads in Hyderabad.
More inquiry is underway to determine all case details.
He added the DCP is taking legal action as required.
