Secunderabad: The Mahankali police have launched an investigation following allegations that a 43-year-old woman was gang-raped after being falsely promised an appearance on a television show.
According to law enforcement officials, the victim, a resident of the Rajanna Sircilla district, had traveled to Hyderabad on Tuesday. She was under the impression that she would be participating in a broadcast focused on resolving family disputes—a situation relevant to her, as she has been living apart from her husband following instances of dowry harassment.
The ordeal began when an unidentified man approached her, claiming to have connections with the show's production team. He subsequently guided her to a building located in the Ranigunj area, where he sexually assaulted her. Shortly thereafter, a second unidentified individual arrived at the location and also assaulted her.
The suspects fled the scene after the victim began crying out for help. Following a formal complaint lodged by the woman, authorities registered a case and are actively working to identify and apprehend the two men involved.
