HYDERABAD: A high-stakes late-night operation on Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) culminated in the arrest of a notorious serial burglar after a brief police firing incident on Tuesday night.

The suspect, identified as Bhushan Srikanth, hails from Andhra Pradesh and was wanted in connection with numerous robberies and thefts across both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Acting on concrete intelligence that Srikanth was hiding out in Hyderabad, a specialized team from the Nalgonda Central Crime Station (CCS) tracked his movements to the city. Law enforcement officials successfully cornered and intercepted the suspect near ORR Exit 12 at Bonguluru, in the vicinity of Adibatla.

According to police sources, the situation escalated when Srikanth attempted to break custody and escape. To prevent his flight, the tracking team opened fire, striking him in the legs.

Following the shooting, the injured suspect was immediately transported to a private healthcare facility in Vanasthalipuram. Medical professionals have reported that his condition is currently stable.

Srikanth is considered a high-profile offender by regional law enforcement. Preliminary reports indicate:

  • He is a prime suspect in more than ten burglary and theft cases across the twin states.

  • He is allegedly linked to the murder of a police constable in Andhra Pradesh, an incident dating back approximately four years.

Senior police officials are expected to release a comprehensive statement detailing the operation and the formal charges leveled against him later today.
