HYDERABAD: A shocking murder plot has unfolded in Telangana's Nizamabad district, where a woman allegedly conspired with her paramour and another accomplice to kill her husband. According to local police, the victim, 35-year-old Dayini Prashanth, was murdered while recovering from a previous attempt on his life.

The suspects—identified as the victim's wife, Sandhya (32), her alleged lover, Anil (35), and his friend, Venkat Sai (also known as Bunty)—have been taken into police custody. Investigators reveal that the final, fatal act involved injecting a lethal cocktail of toilet bowl cleaner and crushed sedatives directly into Prashanth's intravenous (IV) line on June 30.

A Failed Initial Attempt

The investigation into Prashanth's death commenced after his mother filed a formal complaint expressing deep suspicions regarding the circumstances of his passing.

Prashanth had recently returned to India on June 27 after working in the Gulf region for two years, intending to permanently stay home. Law enforcement officials stated that Sandhya viewed her husband's permanent return as a direct threat to her ongoing extramarital affair with Anil.

Leveraging her background in nursing, Sandhya orchestrated a plan with Anil and Sai to eliminate him. The trio first attempted to stage a fatal accident on June 29. Police reports indicate that Sai visited Prashanth, heavily intoxicated him with alcohol, and subsequently escorted him to the terrace, where he pushed him off following telephonic instructions from Sandhya.

The Fatal Execution at Home

Prashanth miraculously survived the fall but sustained severe injuries. To cover their tracks, the suspects convinced him that his fall was a drunken accident and admitted him to a hospital. He was later discharged to recover at home.

Because of her prior medical training, Sandhya took charge of administering his at-home IV fluids. Seizing the opportunity, she allegedly contaminated the IV line with toilet cleaner and pulverized sleeping pills. To ensure the act was fatal, she also pulled him out of his bed onto the floor.

Sandhya initially attempted to attribute his sudden demise to medical complications stemming from the terrace fall. However, Prashanth’s mother, who resides separately and was kept completely in the dark about her son’s return and subsequent hospitalization, intervened by contacting the police.

Following a detailed investigation, the police uncovered the conspiracy. All three individuals have been presented before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
