AGRA: A chilling murder plot has been uncovered in Agra’s Sikandra area after a woman allegedly killed her husband, buried his body beneath their bathroom floor, and spent nearly a month and a half pretending he was missing.

The gruesome crime came to light during a routine police check, leading to the arrest of the accused, Ruby Sharma.

The victim, 44-year-old Surendra Sharma, lived with Ruby and their two daughters in the Dahatora locality. On May 26, a missing person’s report was filed at the Sikandra police station. For 45 days, Ruby maintained a convincing facade, tearfully telling anxious neighbors and relatives that her husband had simply walked out on the family.

According to police sources, the crime was meticulously planned. On the night of the murder, Ruby allegedly sent their daughters to stay at her brother-in-law's house. She then served Surendra kheer heavily laced with sleeping pills. Once he lost consciousness, she strangled him to death.

The following morning, Ruby dug a pit directly inside their bathroom, placed Surendra's body inside, and poured a fresh layer of cement over it to seal the grave and mask the crime scene.

The 16-year marriage came to a dark end due to a routine police visit regarding an older, unrelated case involving Surendra. Investigators noticed Ruby grew intensely anxious during their questioning. Her nervous behavior prompted her brother-in-law—who already had suspicions about her conduct—to urge the police to dig deeper.

Following a rigorous interrogation, Ruby broke down and confessed to the murder, pointing investigators straight to the bathroom floor.

Police have since broken through the concrete, exhumed Surendra’s body, and sent it for a postmortem examination. Ruby Sharma remains in custody as authorities investigate the ultimate motive behind the killing.
