Two guys halted in a Nagpur temple, folded palms and ears, perhaps apologizing to a god.

They allegedly smashed a contribution box, emptied its cash, and escaped.

At 2:20 am on July 28, the Sheetla Devi Temple incident occurred.

Temple CCTV footage shows two males inside. One holds his ears before the deity as the other tries to open the contribution box lock. As his partner breaks open the package, the first man emerges to watch.

The suspects remove cash from the donation box after opening it. They then leave with the money in a bag.

Temple officials found the locks shattered some hours later, revealing the theft. shrine priest Jitendra Pandey said CCTV video showed two unidentified individuals inside the shrine.

We arrived at the temple at 8 am to find the locks smashed. After reviewing CCTV, we spotted two unidentifiable males. Our next stop was the police station. Police investigated footage at the Sheetla Mata Temple, he added.

Pandey said the current robbery is one of several the temple has suffered in the previous year. He said this was the third robbery of deity and contribution box treasures.
