In Jharkhand's Khunti district, locals allegedly beat a 35-year-old man to death and wounded another for goat theft. The FIR and investigation into the mob attack case have yielded no arrests.

In Jharkhand's Khunti district, villagers reportedly beat a 35-year-old man to death and wounded another over goat theft, police said Tuesday.

A senior officer claimed residents beat two of four goat thieves in Bindadiri village, Murhu Police Station, late on Sunday. The other two fled.

Dildar Ansari, from Sisai, Gumla, died.

Four car-driving people reportedly stole animals from the village. Villagers grabbed two, but two escaped with the truck. Villagers beat them brutally, claimed Khunti SDPO Mangal Singh Jamuda.

He claimed a police crew brought the two to a hospital after getting information, but Dildar died on the way.

The family received the body after the post-mortem. The SDPO stated the wounded person's remark prompted a FIR.

The officer said there have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
