GURGAON: In a shocking case, a lady biker was assaulted by a car driver at a traffic signal after the vehicle hit her motorcycle, pushing her off the bike and dragging it for many meters on Gurgaon’s Golf Course Road.

The tragedy happened on Sunday, when the rider Sia was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike with a group of bikers. The woman was hurt after falling onto the road, while the occupants of the automobile are believed to have fled the scene after the collision.

One of Sia’s friends followed the car after the incident and was able to block it at a traffic light, she said. The companion went up to the driver and told him that he was the one who hit Sia and begged him to stop. However, the driver apparently did not take responsibility and escaped from the traffic signal, Sia stated.

The entire incident was recorded on an action camera installed on Sia’s motorcycle. Later she posted the clip and details of the incident on her Instagram feed.

“From the beginning of the ride, the occupants of the car were following me and they looked drunk,” Sia said. She stated she requested them to maintain a safe distance apart, but they allegedly told her to stop. Still she rode ahead, to keep the automobile from cutting her off. A friend, riding behind her, tried to interfere, placing his motorcycle so that the driver could not continually get alongside her.

But Sia said the vehicle continued following her. At one point the motorist tried to turn left in front of her motorcycle, which caused the crash, she said. The hit threw Sia from her bike and dragged the motorcycle several meters along the road. The automobile then allegedly drove off at speed.

Sia has asked the Gurgaon Police to investigate and take action against the driver. She also included the registration number of the vehicle in her Instagram post.
