The neck of a 16-year-old teenager who had repeatedly rejected a man is in critical condition, authorities said.

The event happened Sunday at the victim's home in Keezhamoongiladi village, Cuddalore.

Iyappan, the accused, fell in love with the Class 11 student while doing electrical repairs at her residence. A police officer stated the kid repeatedly rebuffed his advances.

Iyappan approached the residence on Sunday knowing the girl was alone because her mother had departed for her textile store employment. When she refused again, he stabbed her in the neck and fled.

Neighbours ran to the house and called an ambulance after hearing the teen's pleas. Doctors at Chidambaram Government Hospital declared her condition serious.

Chidambaram Taluk police have filed a complaint and searched for the suspect.
