Police claimed two brothers were detained for abducting and decapitating a 23-year-old man, cutting his limbs, and recording the horrible incident on a mobile phone, said PTI.

The local Crime Branch solved the terrible crime after a complicated missing person report turned into a murder investigation.

Mumbra resident Aman Mustakeen Shaikh was taken by two siblings on March 13, according to Thane police.

Both suspects, Faiz Sultan Malim (24) and Alban Sultan Malim (23), are auto-rickshaw drivers and reside in Shil Daighar, according to PTI.The suspect cut Shaikh's throat with a knife "authorities said. The PTI reported that the Mumbra police station first recorded a murder, abduction, and evidence destruction case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Ulhasnagar Crime Branch Unit IV broke the case and arrested the siblings.

According to PTI, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav announced the arrests and added that Shaikh had previous motorbike theft convictions.

Investigators believed the gruesome murder was the result of a longstanding personal animosity between the accused and the dead.

Senior Inspector Rajesh Gajjal of Crime Branch Unit IV said Faiz, the older brother, is a frequent criminal. He was on bail for a 2024 murder when he committed this new atrocity.

The official said both brothers are in police custody pending additional investigation, the news agency said.
