The Ganga near Patna's Bakhtiyarpur captured seven sisters in strong currents while they bathed. Two deceased, three rescued, and two missing. SDRF personnel continue river searches under tough conditions.



The Ganga River engulfed seven girls from the same family at Ranisarai Ganga Ghat in Patna's Bakhtiyarpur area on Monday. Locals saved three, while four went lost. The event took place about 7:30 a.m. The cousins bathed at the ghat, according to locals. One allegedly struggled in deeper water. Although they tried to aid her, the powerful current seized them too. Residents of the ghat quickly began rescue efforts.

Locals saved three girls by into the water. The other four were carried into deeper water and lost. Aarti (21) and Nandani (16) Kumari, daughters of Awadhesh Chandravanshi; Radhika (15), daughter of Kamlesh; and Babli (6), daughter of Mantu, are the missing girls.

Police and administrative authorities arrived after hearing about the event. After that, an SDRF crew searched the river. The search was successful in finding two bodies, but the remaining two girls are still missing.

SDRF staff are exploring several river sections because to the strong current and depth. Family members and locals gathered at the ghat to demand an SDRF team after hearing about the tragedy.

Villagers stopped the road for 20 minutes in irritation over the search delay. Lifting the roadblock followed the rescue operation. As the SDRF searches, several family wait along the riverside awaiting updates.

The episode, involving multiple children and young ladies from the same family, shook the entire town. The Barh Subdivisional Hospital will do the post-mortem.
